Lawson Bridge

The Lawson Bridge opening ceremony in1886. A new version of this bridge is still in the same place at Hawick's Common Haugh.

W & J Kennedy

No information about this picture other than W & J Kennedy, Booksellers closed their shop in the Sandbed in Hawick in 1971 after trading for 142 years.

Silverbuthall Pre-fabs

This is what is now the Silverbuthall housing estate in Hawick, full of pre-fabs in 1949.

St Cuthbert's

This is St Cuthbert's church taken from St Mary's church steeple in Hawick in 1951.

Lynwood

Lynwood housing estate, Hawick with the Slitrig viaduct in the background, both are now demolished. (1952)

Burnfoot

This is the Burnfoot housing estate, Hawick's biggest housing estate, in the process of construction in 1951.
