Ettrick Graphics have had many enquiries over the past few months from genealogists wanting photographs taken from specific locations in the Scottish Borders like graveyards, churches, farms, or houses that maybe their ancestors lived or worked in.

You provide us with the specific details of where you want us to go and what you want us to photograph and we will go to the specified location and take as many photos as you want, they can be printed as 6x4 (or larger) and posted anywhere in the world, or they can be transferred on to a C.D.or floppy disk and posted or e-mailed to the client as a digital file, they can even be downloaded by the client from the Ettrick Graphics B.B.S. by special request.

If before photographing a headstone, it required cleaning we would do so at no extra charge. This service would be of particular interest to the genealogist who for some reason is unable to travel to Scotland to take the photos that they would love to have in their possession.

The price for this service starts at £95.00 U.K. and includes film and developing costs or if digital photos are required, the cost of transfer to CD etc, headstone cleaning if required, travelling expenses, and postage, obviously the price will be higher the further we have to travel within the Scottish Borders and the amount of time it takes us to locate the grave stones etc.

We recently completed an assignment for a customer in Australia who wanted us to go to four different locations, (cemeteries), in the Scottish Borders and photograph specific headstones, if we could find them.

As you can see from the photographs below it was not an easy task. We managed to locate eight of the ten gravestones that our customer required, plus two extra gravestones that were not on his list, but were of significance.

We also photographed the churches and general area to give the customer an idea of what the location is like.

Please note we cannot always guarantee results like this as many of the gravestones that are in these old churchyards are either lying flat or are in such a bad state of repair that you can't make out any of the text that is written on them - but we will try our best!!
